I have been trying to write my own blog for some time now. To begin with it did make me a few pounds but recently the money has stopped coming in. I have tried to monetize my site with Google Ad-sense, this is where people click on the adverts on my site and I am supposed to get paid if they click through to look at another page on the website that they have clicked on or if they buy something.
I was wondering why my blog had stopped making money in the last couple of months despite getting lots of visitors and hits on the ads.
So I investigated further by looking at the adverts on my blog and using another search engine I searched for links to the merchants that were placing ads on my site.
I quickly realised that a pattern was forming. Every website that I visited during my search was one of those sites that are supposed to keep their customers informed of `offers` by daily emails. As soon as I clicked on the link I got a pop-up box asking for my email details. I soon realised that my readers were not clicking through on the websites home page because they were either signing up and then going back to their emails for subscription conformation, or they were leaving that particular website because they were not interested.
